WRITING, CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS, PUBLISHING
I am often retained to manage large projects or bridge
a short-term staffing gap, but I also work on a project-by-project basis.
When working on retainer, I work out a schedule for on-site and off-site
work to make myself available for staff meetings. I'm also available for
on-call writing assignments and consultation. Retainers are contracted
on 6-month increments, but I will discuss shorter or longer arrangements.
The monthly flat rate fee is negotiated and includes expenses such as
phone calls, travel, materials, and 'as needed' third-party services.
Below are the professional roles that I am often asked to
fill:
Corporate Communications Developer/Manager
This is a "power
role" that involves designing and coordinating corporate communications
under existing policies and procedures or creating "P&P"
when needed. My work involves interfacing with an existing marketing/public
relations department and/or agency plus other departments within the
company. Tasks may include monitoring of company media, implementing/utilizing
electronic publishing technology, cataloging documents, managing multiple
projects, producing and publishing materials, estimating production
costs, and working with or supervising other writers/editors.
But as a copywriter
for corporate communications, I write and edit copy for brochures and
other forms of documents (online and print) as needed. I may assist
my client with assessing production costs and oversee work done by external
suppliers. I often draw on my familiarity with a variety of concepts,
practices, and procedures in the performance of my duties, relying on
personal judgment about how to achieve my client's marketing/communication
goals.
Senior Writer/Editor
The scope of this role involves
writing, editing, proofreading, and editing a variety of copy or documents. May
include planning/preparing documents/stories for dissemination; coordinating company
publications including articles, artwork, verifying facts, giving final approval,
et cetera; and/or developing, implementing, and maintaining editorial policies
and standards. Often includes research and verifying facts and/or overseeing work
done by reporters or other writers.
I may also research,
develop, investigate, and write news stories through interviews, observation,
and library and/or online resources. I will determine the tone and intended
audience of story(ies) and investigate the validity of news story sources/claims.
Role may involve special assignments for in-depth investigation of issues,
trends, and/or processes.
FEES:
Flexible and reasonable. Send business email to: heavypen@yahoo.com
- and please include"[RW_SERVICE INQUIRY]" in the subject line. I use
Yahoo email as a way of filtering out spam - I will contact you via a
personal email address.
NOTICE:
As of August 2004, I ceased Website SEO services
to focus on my core skills. However, I do have great referrals.
